CLAW 2026
The crisis management workshop for the GÉANT Community
23–24 November 2026 | Universität Wien, Vienna, Austria
What really happens inside an organisation when a crisis hits? Who takes the lead? Who needs to know what, and when? And how well do the different teams work together when the pressure is on?
CLAW 2026 will be hosted by ACOnet, the Austrian NREN. The event will combine practical crisis-management training with a hands-on exercise designed to put that learning to the test. A series of lightning talks will give participants the opportunity to share experiences, lessons and ideas from real-life crises.
Speakers at CLAW 2026
Roel Derckx
Roel is a highly experienced trainer-advisor in crisis management, with an analytical background as a Delft engineer and extensive experience in psychological and group dynamic processes. His focus is on strengthening people's resilience and ingenuity - understanding what they need and helping with practical tools. His passion is in giving people the justified feeling that they are capable of more than they think possible - in work, during crises, and other complex situations. Helping people develop the necessary competencies for ‘coordinated improvisation’ enabling them to cope with, and even excel under difficult circumstances.
Marthe Huibers
Marthe is an organisational psychologist, fascinated by human behaviour, especially in the context of teams and organisations. It never ceases to amaze her to see what people in “effective” teams can achieve when working together. After working as a trainer/consultant in the field of crisis management for over 10 years, she is now trainer and team coach for leaders and teams, teaching them to (re)discover and work at their fullest (crisis-)potential.
Kenny Meesters
Kenny Meesters is an experienced crisis information manager who has supported emergency responses around the world with the United Nations (UNDAC), the European Union (UCPM), and local authorities. His work focuses on improving the way information is collected, shared, and used in fast-moving crises. Kenny has been involved in numerous international missions as an information manager, working side-by-side with responders to strengthen decision-making and coordination. He is active as a researcher at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, where he studies the interplay of technology, data, organisations, and people in the field of crisis information management.
